Jamie Leigh Jones and Tracy Barker were sexually harassed by Halliburton employees. Then Jamie was brutally gang-raped, and Tracy was assaulted in an attempted rape from which she narrowly escaped. That was horrific. However, what we learned since then is almost as bad. Halliburton/KBR knew that these events were going on for years before these women were attacked. Their own Bagdad Human Resources supervisor says it most bluntly:

Halliburton/KBR permitted or encouraged a "sexually lawless environment" and uses arbitration as a means to "circle the wagons" to protect their financial interests, rather than fairly treat their employees.

These women, and others whose cases are not yet public, are being represented by Stephanie Morris of Washington, D.C., and Todd Kelly and Paul Waldner of Vickery, Waldner & Mallia in Houston, Texas. Paul is the President of the Texas Trial Lawyer's Association and a member of the "bipartisan" American Board of Trial Advocates [ABOTA] which is dedicated quite simply, to "Justice by the People." www.abota.org

Todd's belief in the critical importance of jury-dispensed justice is such that, last month - he obtained a just verdict - on which he will probably never be paid a penny - for the wrongful death of an autistic young man who was strangled in a facility that was supposed to take care of him. It was "Justice for the Sake of Justice."

Halliburton/KBR is trying to force both Jamie and Tracy into "mandatory binding arbitration," based on a clause in their employment contracts that says that disputes "related to your employment" must be arbitrated. Is rape something that is "related to your employment" at Halliburton/KBR?

As JusticeSeekers, we are fighting for Jamie and Tracy's constitutional right to a jury trial. Arbitration is held in secret, the decision is made by one person and is not appealable. Moreover, whereas the Arbitrator is used again and again by the company, the victim will never see him again. We believe that justice deserves a fair trial in open court before an impartial jury of citizens. What do you think?

Question for Poll:  Should Jamie's case be heard in open court before a fair and impartial jury of American citizens?
